Iranian foreign ministry spokesman said on Monday that Iran has not wanted Tunisia to mediate between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

A few ago, I dismissed the issue in a clear-cut statement,' said Bahram Qasemi in answer to a question about a report published in the Kuwaiti media claiming that Iran had wanted Tunisia to mediate between Iran and Saudi Arabia.

Qasemi said that Iran's policy about the regional issues and any country that can take effective and positive steps towards improving the stability and security, restoring peace, and fighting terrorism is clear: Iran embraces it.

'We had talks with the Tunisian authorities about bilateral, regional, world and Islamic World issues; we had no talks about mediation of Tunisia between Iran and Saudi Arabia,' Qasemi said.

He added that Saudi Arabia insists on its previous actions and repeats its mistakes regarding the region and its neighbors.
