Iran, Italy review ways to regulate consular ties

Iranian and Italian foreign ministry officials in Rome on Friday held talks on ways to regulate consular ties.

Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs Hassan Qashqhavi told IRNA that the Iranian and Italian officials reviewed the ways to promote consular relations, facilitate visa issuance and augment the academic cooperation.

Removal of obstacles on way of Iran and Italy banking transactions as well as cooperation between the two countries' police and judicial systems were the other topics of discussion between Iranian delegation and Italian officials, he added.

Qashqavi said that after the Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action, Italy was pioneer of resumption of trade ties with Iran and some of its banks revived relations with their Iranian partners immediately after the nuclear deal.

Italy's Minister of Economy and Finance Pier Carlo Padoan upcoming visit to Iran can help resolution of some of the financial and banking problems, he added.

The official said Iran is ready to hold the fourth round of consular meetings with Italy in Tehran in the upcoming Autumn.
