Iran to start drilling 3rd well in Sardar Jangal oilfield in one month

ILNA: Iran will start drilling the third well of Sardar Jangal oilfield, located in the Caspian Sea, in the next 30 days.

Hedayatollah Khademi, the managing director of North Drilling Company, said that the second drilled well passed the tests successfully.

" Each well of the field has the capacity to produce ۲,۰۰۰-۵,۰۰۰ barrels of oil per day, " he noted.

" Domestic experts have so far cracked ۱,۵۰۰ codes to repair the Amir Kabir oil drilling rig’s crashed crane, " he explained.

The Amir Kabir oil drilling rig’s crane crashed during one of the drilling operations of the second exploratory well last year.

The rig’s facilities and pipelines were not damaged as a result of the incident. The rig resumed its operation ۴۸ hours after the incident with its second crane.

The Amir Kabir SemiSub Drilling Rig is to explore and drill oil wells to extract Iran’s share of the oil and gas from the Caspian Sea.

In December ۲۰۱۱ Iran announced that has discovered a huge gas field after years - longed operations with Amir Kabir rig in the Caspian Sea. Iran called this field Sardar - e Jangal.

Sardar - e Jangal field’s first well reportedly was drilled ۷۰۰ metres in depth through benthos in ۱۰۰۰ - metre deep waters.

The field’s natural gas reserves are approximately about ۵۰ trillion cubic feet, according to the Iranian media outlets.
