Political Science professor of the University of Wisconsin – Madison talks about US general condition after Trump has taken office and describes his relations with international institutes and organizations.

“Barry Burden” is the professor of Political Science at the university of Wisconsin-Madison and the director of Elections Research Center at the department. His research has been focused on electoral election and congress representatives and so far has published numerous books and articles in this area.

The excerpt below is his interview with ILNA correspondent:

ILNA: How do you think Trump’s new immigration orders might influence his administration’s image nationally and its relations with countries worldwide?

Many of the countries in the world consider the policies as hostile and since these orders are threatening immigrants' situations, have so far tried to stand against it.

Inside the United States, those who have voted for Trump, has expressed satisfaction about achieving campaign promises, but most of the electoral voters have taken these orders against the nation’s constitutional principles.

ILNA: Since upcoming election in France and Germany is underway, in case far right extremists also be able to follow Trump's victory and take office, how do you imagine the fate of refugees and immigrants?

For example about Germany, since large numbers of refugees and immigrant yearly enter the country, in case those parties would be able to win the election in these countries, regarding their anti-immigration policies, it’s hard to imagine what would happen to migrants. The issue is also true about France and other European counties.

ILNA: Some speculate about Trump’s impeachment, how much such a prospect might be true?

Currently the impeachment is not considerable but in future if the conflict of interest or specific policies that have been taken would gain legal significance, it would be probable to hear more about it.

ILNA: Considering Trump and Putin’s good relations, how much lifting of Moscow’s sanctions is probable?

Trump’s positions toward Putin has so far been contradictory, many of which has remained in the campaign level statements. As a result due to the complexities of the relations between the two countries, the futures of the collaborations are still far vaguer than we expect.

ILNA: Considering contradictory positions of Trump about “One China Policy”, what future do you anticipate for Washington – Beijing relations?

Like Russia, Trump’s position toward China has still remained at the campaign level claims and for instance many of the US’s interests hasn’t been considered and as a result many of them seem to be contradictory. Another case in point is Trump proposal to move US embassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem, so far we have witnessed that his statements have been modified and softened many times.

ILNA: Why do you think Trump hasn’t put Saudi Arabia in his immigration order's list?

I’m not aware of the reasons of the choices but certainly we shouldn’t ignore big trade relations between the US and Saudi Arabia.
