Lebanon could experience Iraq-styled political stalemate: Expert
An expert on Lebanon has warned of political tensions in Lebanon following the parliamentary elections.
Vasim Bazi said in remarks to ILNA that “After the Lebanese elections, an atmosphere has been created for more tensions, which could lead the country to a stage of political disobedience and insistence on not accepting the other side.”
The defeat of the opposition in the Lebanese elections is due to the fact that the resistance and its allies succeeded in achieving their strategic goals, he noted.
If the statements and discourse against the resistance and Hezbollah continue, Lebanon will enter a difficult and sensitive phase, he said, adding, “It is possible that the scenario of the situation in Iraq after the recent elections will be repeated in Lebanon and the same situation of political disobedience will prevail in Lebanon.”
