Government should pursuit changing work act amendments; parliament member

Head of Parliament Social Commission advised government to act in changing work bills.

“Salman Khodadadi”, Head of Parliament's Social Commission, emphasizing that so far there hasn’t been any request from the government to repeal or reclaim their work act amendment, told that the generalities of the amendments are going to be reviewed after New Year’s holidays. “However, before conducting such a review, we’re going to have a session with worker union activists, workers, contractors and the government at the social commission to further analyze them” he added. 

“If the generalities of the amendments would be ratified by the parliament, reviewing the articles would be on our agenda” he noted. 

According to parliament member, reviewing the details of the amendments are going to take 4 months and if the generalities are going to be approved, “we will do our efforts in solving the remaining controversial matters” he stressed. 

Khodadadi also told that workers believe, the content of the bills have so far, limited their union’s moves in holding protests and has taken their dynamicity in the current situations. 

 “Worker’s union have opposed parts of the bills and believe that the trilateralism of the bill hasn’t been addressed. The government has submitted the bills without concession of the workers” he noted.

Regarding the claims that workers have objected the minimum wage estimation methods, Iranian legislative officials remarked that inflation in the society and economic situation is among the points that have been mentioned and addressed in several clauses of the bills.

Khodaverdi also expressed hope that the points would be in accordance with the government view to improve the working class conditions.
