Iranian President to visit Vietnam, says Vietnamese paper

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani will soon pay a state visit to Vietnam at the invitation of his Vietnamese counterpart President Tran Dai Quang, says the Vietnamese media, citing officials.

President Rouhani is due in Vietnam from October 5-7, local media including the ‘Viet Nam News' newspaper quoted the country’s Foreign Ministry as saying.

Vietnam and Iran set up diplomatic relations on August 4, 1973.

Over past years, the two sides have enjoyed growing ties in politics, economy, trade, culture, education and science and technology.

In 2015, two-way trade between the two countries reached 107 million dollars, with Vietnam’s exports accounting for 72 percent.
