A new Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) Shatel Mobile will launch their new mobile network this week.

It will sell its own SIM cards but will make use of MTN-Irancell, RighTel or MCI networks, a press release from the firm sent to Financial Tribune said.

The firm has yet to announce an exact time and location of the unveiling event.

An MVNO is a wireless communications services provider that does not own the mobile network infrastructure over which it provides services to customers but in fact pays a fee to the network operators.

The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) issued a call for new registrations last winter, following which the applications of 51 firms were processed and were required to submit documents by August 21. NeginTel, another MVNO, recently launched its first mobile phone SIM cards to fans of Tabriz football club Tractor Sazi, it is retailing under the AzarTel brand.
