Iranian and Afghan officials conferred development of all-out ties in the 5th Iran-Afghanistan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission on Wednesday.

Speaking in the closing ceremony of the 5th Iran-Afghanistan Economic Cooperation Commission, visiting Minister of Finance of Afghanistan Eklil Ahmad Hakimi said that connection of Iran to Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and China through the Khaf-Heart railroad was one of the main topics discussed in the two-day meeting.

He said that the Iranian and Afghan officials also exchanged views on four major topics including trade and economic, scientific and cultural, customs affairs and environment.

According to Ahmad Hakimi, Tehran-Kabul cooperation for development of Chabahar port in Iran’s Sistan-Baluchestan Province as well as their bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy, transit and transportation activities were among other topics discussed in the Commission.

He hoped that more practical steps would be taken in the near future (including signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two sides) to facilitate enhancement of cooperation between Tehran and Kabul.
