Iran has launched a flight from Abadan to Kuwait, for shrimp exports, said director-general of Fisheries organization in Iran's Khuzestan Province Fattollah Abualli.

Iran's export of farmed shrimps to Kuwait is being shipped weekly via flights from Abadan, Abualli noted.

Iran also uses its Ahvaz International Airport to export shrimp to Kuwait.

"The Persian Gulf states are the main clients of Iran in terms of shrimp exports, and hopefully the exports will expand once the coronavirus-related restrictions are lifted," Abualli said.

Iran is also pursuing to launch flights from Abadan to Turkey, Central Asia, and the Caucasus to export shrimp.

The country annually catches 3,500 tons of shrimp in the Persian Gulf — the amount which is partially consumed in Khuzestan province, and partially exported abroad.
