Iran welcomes investment by Indian companies

ILNA: Presidential Advisor and Secretary of the High Council of Free and Economic Zones Akbar Torkan said Iran will welcome investment of Indian companies in free trade zones.

Speaking in a meeting with managers of Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited in India, Torkan further remarked: “We are ready to put the land, gas and other facilities at the disposal of these companies for the production of agricultural fertilizer in Chabahar Free Zone. ”

In reply to a request by the mangers of the company for a cut in price of gas delivered to the company he said there is no possibility for lowering the price of gas as it would be against the Majlis approval.

Chairman and Managing Director of the company K. S. Raju called for a fixed price for gas and said gas delivery at fixed price and for a longer period of time is one of the demands of the company for making investment for the production of chemical fertilizer in Chabahar.

He also called for a proper piece of land in Chabahar for the construction of the chemical fertilizer plant and said products of the plan can address demands of both Iran and India for chemical fertilizer.

The Nagarjuna Fertilizers and Chemicals Limited had previously signed a memorandum of understanding with the National Iranian Petrochemical Industries for the construction of an urea and ammonia complex with a nominal capacity of ۲,۲۰۰ tons of ammonia and ۳,۸۰۰ tons of urea in Phase ۲ of South Pars.

Torkan and his accompanying delegation who visited India for the seventh Gujarat trade meeting which was opened on Sunday, prior to the meeting inspected the refinery and power plant complex in the state and became acquainted with the activities of the complex.

On the sidelines of the seventh trade meeting of Gujarat which concluded its work on Monday, Torkan met with the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and presented him with a letter of invitation from President Rouhani to visit Iran.
