ILNA: Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Mahmoud Vaezi will visit Turkey on Jan. 13 to talk with Turkish officials on boosting economic ties, the Islamic Republic’s Ambassador to Ankara, Alireza Bigdeli said.

During his visit, Vaezi, who is a co - chairman of the Iran - Turkey Joint Economic Commission will discuss obstacles hampering the two countries’ trade growth up to $۳۰ billion, Bigdeli said.

He added that the discussions will also concern the agreements reached during the first meeting of the High Level Cooperation Council between the two countries.

Last February Iranian President Hassan Rouhani appointed Vaezi as his special representative in Turkey’s affairs.

In a letter to Turkish then Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President Rouhani emphasized that appointment of Vaezi is a sign of the Iranian government’s interest in continuing and boosting all - round bilateral relations.

Tehran and Ankara intend to increase their trade volume to $۳۰ billion in the current year.

The two countries’ trade turnover stood at $۱۳.۵ billion in ۲۰۱۳, according to the Iranian media.

Iran’s oil and gas exports accounted for $۷.۶ billion of the mentioned amount, while Turkey’s exports to Iran were a little more than $۴ billion.

The trade turnover between the two countries was around $۲۲ billion in ۲۰۱۲. Iran and Turkey eye to increase their bilateral trade to $۱۰۰ billion in nine years.
