Steinmeier to meet Zarif in Munich

ILNA: will meet his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on the sidelines of the 51st Munich Security Conference(February 6-8), Germanyˈs foreign ministry announced in Berlin on Friday.

The exact date and time of such a bilateral meeting was yet to be determined, it said.

Steinmeier is also scheduled to hold separate talks in Munich with his American and Russian counterparts, John Kerry and Sergei Lavrov, according to the foreign ministry.

Zarif was expected to arrive later this afternoon in Munich where he will join his American, German and French counterparts at a panel discussion on Iran on Sunday.

European Union Policy Chief Federica Mogherini may also join the Iran panel talks, according to the chairman of the Munich security meeting, Wolfgang Ischinger.

There are plans for bilateral talks with a number of foreign ministers of the E۳ plus ۳ group on the sidelines of the Munich confab.

Hundreds of leading decision - makers and prominent senior analysts from dozens of countries are scheduled to participate at the three - day confab to dwell on various top political and security issues, notably terrorism, the Ukrainian conflict and the Mideast crisis hotspots.

Some ۲۰ heads of states and governments as well ۶۰ foreign and defense ministers

are expected to take part in the security meeting in the southern German city, widely regarded as the top annual gathering of political movers and shakers on global strategic issues.
